DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Paterson: What to Know First

We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider in Paterson, and we handle stainless steel liner installation, liner replacement, partial rebuilds, and full chimney rebuilds on homes with existing DuraFlex systems. Most liner work runs one to two days once we’ve completed the camera inspection and you’ve approved the written quote. A straightforward DuraFlex liner replacement in Paterson typically lands between $1,900 and $3,400; a full rebuild with new liner, crown, and masonry work runs $6,000 to $14,000 depending on what the camera shows us. No price leaves this page as a guess, and no work starts until you’ve seen the footage and the number in writing.

This page is for Paterson homeowners with a DuraFlex liner whose chimney is showing signs of trouble. If that’s you, call (862) 356-5229 and we’ll schedule the camera inspection first. Corrine Halstead runs our shop, and she books nothing before she’s looked at the flue.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Rippled or collapsed corrugations on DuraFlex 316L smooth-wall liner. In older Paterson row houses near the Great Falls Historic District, we regularly see liners that were pulled too hard during original installation or sized wrong for the flue’s bends. The stainless corrugation folds back on itself, creating a catch point for creosote. Fix: we pull the liner, confirm the diameter with a sizing cone, and install a correctly measured replacement rather than trying to flatten the old one back into shape.
  • Pinhole corrosion at the tee connection on DuraFlex Pro liners. The tee snout is the thinnest section and the first place condensation eats through on gas appliances that cycle on and off. A homeowner calls us for what they think is a smoke smell; the camera shows a lacework of pinholes right where the liner meets the connector. Fix: full liner replacement, because welding pinholes on thin stainless is slower and more expensive than a clean swap.
  • Creosote glazing on DuraFlex smooth-wall liners in wood-burning flues. Smooth-wall flues draft well but glaze faster when Paterson winters push homeowners to burn mixed hardwoods at low temperatures. Class III creosote, the shiny tar-like stuff, bonds to stainless and cannot be brushed off. We remove it with a rotary chain treatment sized for the liner diameter, then re-scan the flue to confirm we didn’t gouge the steel.
  • Improper support at the top plate causing the liner to sag and separate at a coupler joint. This shows up on taller three-story chimneys in the Hillcrest and Eastside Park neighborhoods. The liner wasn’t clamped at the top; gravity did the rest. The coupler separates halfway up and flue gas cools too early, which accelerates creosote buildup below the separation. Fix: pull the liner, set a proper top plate and clamp system, and use a coupler with a locking band rather than the friction-fit original.
  • Original DuraFlex aluminum liners on gas flues that should have been stainless from day one. Aluminum meets code for certain gas appliances, but in Paterson’s humidity and with acidic flue gas condensation, aluminum deteriorates far faster than the 316L the homeowner assumed they bought. Camera footage shows white corrosion blooms and thin spots. Fix: we quote a 316L stainless replacement and show you the thickness specification on the written quote before ordering anything.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process
  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers at (862) 356-5229, 24 hours a day. We book a camera inspection, not a sales call.
  2. 2
Camera scan. A background-checked, uniformed tech runs the NFPA 211 Level 2 inspection with a camera down the full flue length. You watch the footage with us. We point to exactly what’s failed and what hasn’t.
  3. 3
Written quote. We hand you a written price, written scope, and written warranty before anything gets ordered. No numbers change after that. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: have it in writing.
  4. 4
Parts decision. For DuraFlex work, we use OEM DuraFlex components when the job calls for it. For some sections, quality aftermarket stainless from HeatShield or Gelco does the same job at a lower price, and we tell you the difference on the quote. We never substitute without saying so.
  5. 5
The work. Old liner out, new liner down, couplers set, top plate clamped, crown or chase cover addressed, and masonry rebuild if the camera found spalling brick or a cracked crown.
  6. 6
Post-work camera scan and photo record. We run the camera again and show you the finished flue. You get the photos, the readings, the written scope, and the written warranty. That’s Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, and we’ve done it on every job since 2009.

What DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Costs in Paterson

  • DuraFlex liner replacement only (single-story, straight flue): $1,900 - $2,600
  • Liner replacement with top plate, cap, and crown repair (two-story): $2,800 - $3,900
  • Partial rebuild (top 15 to 25 courses of brick, new crown, new liner): $4,500 - $7,500
  • Full chimney rebuild with DuraFlex liner, terra cotta removal, and new crown: $7,000 - $14,000+

What moves the price: chimney height, roof pitch and access from the ladder or staging, how much old masonry has to come out, and whether terra cotta tiles need to be broken out before the new liner drops in. Two-story row houses in Paterson’s older districts run higher on labor simply because of access. We give you the exact number after the camera shows us what’s inside. Estimates are free, and the quote doesn’t change once it’s in your hand. Call (862) 356-5229 and we’ll schedule the scan.

Why Paterson Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Paterson for DuraFlex Work

Why Paterson Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Paterson for DuraFlex Work

The camera comes before the quote on every job we book. Corrine Halstead set the rule years ago after seeing too many liners torn out that had another decade in them, and too many left in place that should have come out last winter. Camera first, quote second, work third - in that order, every time.

We’re not a DuraFlex dealer pushing one product line. If the camera shows a section that HeatShield or Gelco material can handle better for less money, we say so on the written quote. If the liner is healthy and only the crown needs work, we tell you that too, and we’ll go up and take photos so you can see it for yourself. Every job gets a documented photo record when it’s done, a written warranty, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s the whole point of writing it down before we start.
